Essex Theatre Company, Inc., community theater in Essex, NY, seeks to cast two males (40+) in Neil Simon’s comedy Chapter Two to be performed July 10, 11, 16, 17, 18 at 7 pm and July 12 & 19 at 2 pm at the Masonic Lodge in Essex, NY (right next to the ferry dock from Charlotte — great location for ferry foot traffic!). The play is available for reading through Google Books. ETC is looking for both a George, the lead, and his brother, Leo.
Here is a synopsis from Samuel French:
Recent widower, writer George Schneider, is encouraged by his younger brother Leo to start dating again. Which sends George into even more depression after a series of bad matches. Then Leo comes up with Jennie Malone and she’s a keeper. Still, it’s a bumpy trip on the road to Dreamland for these not-so-young lovers. George and Jennie stumble on, overcoming both their hesitation on the the rebound and emotional neediness. In a hilarious, farcical subplot, Leo has a fling with Faye, Jennie’s neurotic married friend.

ETC is also looking for a tenor or a baritone (40+ preferably) to take the role of Michael in Jones & Schmidt’s two-person musical I Do! I Do! about a 50-year marriage for its August production. Performances are August 14, 15, 20, 21, 22 at 7 pm and August 16 & 23 at 2 pm at the Masonic Lodge, Essex, NY. Play-thru will be May 30 at 2 pm, rehearsals beginning June 10.
